Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation for the 2021 Birkie Trail Run Festival. We appreciate your assistance in providing support to athletes and staff for this ultimate Trail Running experience on the Birkie Trail.
Beginning and ending at the Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, WI. Offering multiple events, from the 100K Ultra Marathon, to a 5K and everything in-between, the Birkie Trail Run Festival offers something for every style of runner.

All volunteers of the Birkie Trail Run will receive an official t-shirt as well as a meal and beverage.
Please note, we are following all guidelines set forth by the CDC on making mandates (inside buildings and facilities).

COVID-19 Waiver Agreement
The following waiver must be signed by all volunteers of the 2021 Birkie Trail Run Festival:

2021 Birkie Trail Run Festival COVID-19 Agreement and Waiver

1) I understand that my attendance includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases, including but not limited to COVID-19. While certain restrictions and personal discipline may reduce this risk, I enter into the event and premises and accept the risk of serious illness, possibly resulting in death. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the releasees or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation as a volunteer.

2) I understand that the Event and its representatives cannot guarantee that any precautionary measures taken by the Event will fully protect anyone from being exposed to and/or contracting COVID-19 or any other contagion

3) I understand that upon arrival at event, I must confirm that I, and all members of my immediate household, have not experienced unexplained symptoms linked to COVID-19 within the past fourteen (14) days. In the event that I, or any of the members of my immediate household, have experienced those symptoms within 14 days of the Event, I (1) will not attend the Event or any related activities, and (2) will notify the Volunteer Coordinator at: ronda.tworek@birkie.com
of their absence. I agree to submit to a temperature reading from a touchless thermometer, if requested by the ABSF, and agree that if my temperature is 100.4 degrees (F) or greater, I will willingly leave the premises and not volunteer for the 2021 Birkie Trail Run Festival.

4) I understand that upon arrival at the event, I must affirm that I, along with all members of my immediate household, have not been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last fourteen (14) days and have not been knowingly exposed to anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last fourteen (14) days.

5) Medical Volunteers Specific: I understand that upon arrival at the event, I must affirm that I, along with all members of my immediate household, have not been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last fourteen (14) days and have not been knowingly exposed to anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last fourteen (14) days, without appropriate use of PPE.

6) I affirm that I will comply with all requirements set forth by the race organizers, local and state health department, and other officials, including social distancing, the use of a face mask, temperature checks, COVID-19 symptom screening, and food and beverage requirements. As a volunteer, I understand that failure to comply with the requirements, or if my behavior is deemed to be rude, belligerent, threatening or inappropriate in any way, it will result in being asked to leave; failure to leave the area will lead to involvement of local law enforcement.

7) I agree, by agreeing to this waiver, to each statement above and I also hereby waive, release, indemnify, and forever hold harmless the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation, the Board of Directors, and any other subsidiaries, subcontractors, employees, volunteers and agents affiliated with the Event (collectively, the “Related Parties”) from all liabilities and claims for any injuries, illness, losses or damages that arise out of, or are incident to, my volunteering at any activities relating to the Event or may attendance at any activities relating to the 2021 Birkie Trail Run Festival

Assumption of Risk and Waiver Agreement

While there are benefits associated with being around and volunteeering at sporting events, I (the individual named above) know that being around a sporting events is a potentially risky activity. I know that volunteers around sporting events can be exposed to risks posed by weather, terrain, physical exertion, and contact with race participants, spectators, other volunteers, and vehicles (including snowmobiles, grooming vehicles and emergency vehicles). I know that such risks can result in injuries, usually minor injuries, but on occasion serious, and in some very rare instances very serious injuries. With knowledge of these benefits and risks, I hereby assume all risks of either injury or death associated with being around the sporting event at which I am volunteering. Additionally, in consideration of the experience, food, beverage and/or clothing provided to me as a volunteer at this event, I hereby agree to waive and release the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF), Inc., and all it agents, employees and sponsors, from all claims for liability of any kind (including, but not limited to, claims relating to NEGLIGENCE) arising from my volunteering for this event, except I do not waive or release hereby any claims for harm caused intentionally or recklessly. I hereby waive the opportunity to bargain for terms different than those stated in this agreement. This is the entire agreement relating to the matters addressed herein, and it may only be modified in writing.

If Volunteer is a Minor, this Agreement is entered into on the Minor's behalf by the Minor's parent or guardian, and Minor's parent or guardian, also hereby waives and releases to the fullest extent allowed whatever claims he or she may have arising out of or related to the Minor's volunteering.

Media Consent: I hereby grant ABSF the right and permission (a) to use and authorize others to use photographs and video of me, and audio of my voice, and to modify such photographs, video and audio, for illustration, promotion or advertising purposes: and (b) to contact me for marketing purposes at my email address provided above.
