Thank you for your interest in assisting with Birkie Trail Pass Check-in!  Birkie Trail Check-In Volunteers work at various Trailheads along the Birkie Trail, from the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable to the Samuel C. Johnson Family Outdoor Center at the Hwy OO Trailhead.  The primary focus of this volunteer shift is to check that all those arriving to the Trailheads to ski, have a current (valid) Birkie Trail Pass.

Birkie Trail passes are required to ski on the Birkie Trail from December 1 to March 31 of any given year*.  The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation manages, maintains and grooms the Birkie Trail all year-round, and the fees for the Trail Passes are to off-set the cost of the year-round maintenance.  The Birkie Trail Pass for 2022-23 season is a blue plastic card, with the bearer's name printed on it.

Birkie Trail Passes can be purchased in the Birkie Office, and through the Birkie website: Purchase a Trail Pass
There are different Trail Passes that can be purchased.  There are Adult passes and Youth passes for Seasonal or Day use.  Family Passes, are intended for two adults and children under the age of 18 who still reside within the same household.  Each family member - over the age of 12 - will receive their own physical pass, printed with their name.
All physical trail passes are printed at the Birkie Office and will be mailed out, unless the purchaser requests to pick it up.

All Access:  All Access pass is indicated by the blue/white round sticker on the physical, blue plastic pass, printed with the individuals name on it.   Which grants access to the machine-made snowmaking loops at the Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, and the rest of the trail once there is natural, groomable snow on the Birkie Trail.

Regular Season: The 2022-23 physical Trail Pass is a blue plastic card, with the individuals name printed on the pass.

Day Pass: Puchased online, this pass does not have a physical pass to display.  The purchaser will have an email notification created from the purchase of the Day Pass - which is valid for the specific days selected during the purchase process.

From the Trailheads, Trail Ambassadors check Trail Passes or assist with the purchase (online) of passes in order for those entering the Trailheads to be able to ski.  Smile and have fun.  Thank you for your assistance with the Birkie Trail Pass for the 2022-23 Season.
